What is an RDMP?
A Research Data Management Plan! This establishes a link between the project you are working on (even if informal) and your research data. At the same time you can request custom data storage ('workspaces') for your research data and tell us how to manage it.
What is eResearch Storage? Can I store confidential data?
Yes, it is possible! eResearch Storage is a UTS hosted storage platform designed to store research data securely. For more info: Storing Research Data
Where can I find out more about eResearch?
Join our drop-in session every Thursday from 3pm to 4pm! Any questions regarding data storage, research computing, survey tools or anything else you're curious about is welcome.
How can I transfer research data to/from a third party or other institution?
UTS OneDrive supports sharing folders directly via email, or through password-protected links, and is rated as suitable for UTS Confidential and health data. We also have CloudStor FileSender available, which often has faster uploads and downloads between Australian University campuses if you're transferring big data.
Can't I just use my personal DropBox/Google Drive/iCloud for backing up and sharing my research data?
As a researcher associated with an Australian Institution, you're required to ensure your research data is secure and accurate (according to The Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research), and these external services are often unable to meet that criteria. UTS owned/recommended services are reviewed and bound by contract to ensure they keep research data secure and unmodified.
Can you host this database/application/website for me?
While we don't provide full-service hosting services for researchers, we can facilitate the provision of cloud accounts for researchers to host these services themselves. We ensure these cloud platforms allow the flexibility researchers require to quickly setup and/or change their web services while still adhering to UTS security and governance policies. These platforms do have costs associated, chat with us for more details.
