Recommended: Microsoft Stream
At UTS, we recommend researchers using Microsoft Stream for transcription and translation. In general, all UTS researchers can access Microsoft Stream through UTS Office 365.
- Researchers could record or upload videos directly into Stream from their browsers and edit them. Videos are stored on our UTS Microsoft server. The auto-captioning services have been found to be reliable, but researchers should validate any transcriptions generated.
- Stream also has an inbuilt translation function for captions and transcripts. The reliability of the translation function varies depending on the language. It is recommended that researchers validate any translations outputs.
- Please refer to the user guide for more information.
Other Option: Zoom
- Zoom has a transcription service for Zoom recording, storing the data on Zoom Cloud, which researchers can then download and upload to an appropriate data storage for research.
Please contact us if you have further questions about transcription for research purposes.
